A leak detection system (LDS) is utilized at the Air Liquide Al Khafrah facility in Saudi Arabia to check the integrity of a pipeline between their facility and one of their clients, which is 10 kilometers distant. The LDS collects process data from the pipeline’s beginning and finish and utilizes statistical analysis of past data to identify whether a leak exists, where it’s situated, and how big it is.
Matrikon’s OPC Server was used to connect the REL Instruments & Atmos LDS to a Foxboro I/A DCS. The LDS is a local client, running alongside the OPC Server on the same Windows 2000 PC. Approximately ten values are exchanged between the LDS and DCS.
